5 Essential Tips for Healthy Summer Hair

June 22, 2020

5 Essential Tips for Healthy Summer Hair

Summer is notorious for wreaking havoc on your hair. Sun, chlorine, salt water, and humidity test your patience and contribute to bad hair days. Summer is coming in hot, so you’ll want to know how to manage your summer hair.

Read on for 5 tips to learn how to have great hair this summer.

Protect Your Hair From the Sun & Heat

Just as you should protect your skin from the sun, you should protect your hair as well. Sun can fade your color and dry out your hair and can also damage your scalp.

Spray our top selling Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer on your wet hair as you get out of the water. May it be the shower, ocean, or pool! Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer is an incredible spray blend of six featherlight oils, to help soften, silken, tame, defrizz, detangle, and protect against breakage. Plus, it contains UV protection to help further shield hair from the drying effects of the sun.

Limit Additional Heat

Skip the straightener and curling iron this summer, and try to work with your hair’s natural texture to limit additional heat and damage.

Deep Condition

Be sure you are deep conditioning your hair regularly. How often you do it depends on the texture of your hair, and we recommend using Bumble and bumble.’s While You Sleep

Damage Repair Masque, an overnight treatment to help reverse the appearance of damaged hair – for swingy, silky (de-stressed) strands by A.M. This is especially important if you spend a lot of time in the pool or on the beach. Sun, salt water, and chlorine can really wreck your hair, and a deep conditioning treatment can help revive it.

To Blow Dry or Air Dry?

Before your blow dry (or even if you air dry) make sure you’re using Glow Bond-Building Styler. This product is a cream that deeply repairs hair and builds bonds to protect against future damage.

After blow drying or air drying, all summer you’ll want to finish with the Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil UV Protective Dry Oil Finishing Spray. This amazing ultra-lightweight, UV-protective formula delivers radiance, softness, and frizz control – without collapsing styles.

If you can stand it, try to let your hair air dry and give your blow dryer a break. Who wants to drip sweat while drying and styling their hair in the summer anyway? Bumble and bumble have created a product that helps you do just that. Don’t Blow It is a styling cream that helps enhance your natural texture. They even have two different formulas—one for fine hair and one for thick hair.

Sleep in Silk this Summer

Have you tried sleeping in a silk scrunchie or with a silk pillowcase yet? Silk scrunchies are gentle to use on dry, damaged, and weak hair and they reduce breakage – since they don’t cause the same amount of friction a traditional elastic hair tie does. We recommend putting your hair in a loose ponytail with a silk scrunchie, or braiding your hair and securing the braid with a silk scrunchie!

Your Summer Hair Doesn’t Have to Ruin Your Day

If you’re dealing with frizz or limp hair in the heat and humidity, you’ll want to use these summer hair tips to revive your locks. Don’t let the summer get the best of you. Use these tips to help keep your hair healthy, hydrated, and happy this summer!

When it’s time for a cut or for color, get in touch with us for an appointment. We specialize in color, especially balayage, and would love to help you achieve your hair dreams this summer!
