They say blondes have more fun and we have to agree!
Our professional advice is to think about a few hair questions BEFORE your “going blonde consultation” with your colorist. This will give you the most out of your time together and will give you the opportunity to really understand the process behind the gorgeous blonde hair you see on social media.
Some questions to think about before your consultation:
- What is achievable and realistic for your current hair?
- What type of maintenance are you wanting to commit to?
- What tone and level of blonde are you looking to achieve?
After spending some time thinking through these questions and scrolling through pictures… still unsure? That’s ok and it’s what us colorists are here for!
When someone hears “Blonde Specialist” they immediately think we bleach out every guest to platinum blonde. When in reality, platinum blondes are only a small percentage of our clientele!
Most people look best with a more customized, natural-looking blonde and that is our specialty. One of the most important things to consider when making the decision to go blonde is the condition of your hair.
Healthy hair = the more natural the shade of blonde
Hair looks best when it’s healthy. Going any shade of blonde with compromised hair will only make the condition and look of the hair worse.
We strongly believe it’s best to stay within 2-3 levels of your natural hair color. Although realistically it can be possible to go several levels lighter and still look great. But this will usually require more frequent visits to your colorist!
Think about the maintenance
We always want you to look your best and will tell you when we would like to see you again to maintain your desired color. Some blonde services require three-week maintenance, some require monthly or quarterly appointments.
Some blonde colors natural regrowth actually enhances the “lived-in look” so you can go much longer between appointments. It really all depends on the look you desire and color meaning the level and tone blonde you want in comparison to what you have naturally and currently.
Tone and level of lightness are important for the overall look of your blonde hair, and it is also something you may not have thought about. Is it an icy cool blonde you want or is something more golden, buttery or even sandy or beige? Maybe it is a strawberry, coppery blonde that you want to see? These are important questions to think about and discuss during your consultation.
As you can see, the possibilities are endless and beautiful hair color is completely customizable; especially for blondes!
During your appointment you will notice different color techniques. Customizing your color with different and modern techniques will make all the difference in your overall look. Some include balayage for a sun-kissed look, double processing bleach and tone for platinum blondes, full highlights with a tone for an in-your-face blonde bombshell look, hand-painted lowlights (darker pieces) to make existing blonde look and “pop”, and often times several different techniques will be used.
Colorists love to help navigate your blonde hair color journey. We love what we do and we love to work together to create the perfect blonde hair!
