5 At-Home Hair Care Tips to Look and Feel Your Best

5 At-Home Hair Care Tips to Look and Feel Your Best

The truth is, caring for your hair is extremely important. Salon trips will regularly refresh your color and keep your hair healthy, but a lot of the work needs to be done at home to keep your hair looking and feeling its best.

Learn how to take care of your hair with these effective hair care tips:

Applying Oil to the Hair Will Help Keep It Healthy

Oil is one of the oldest, most tried and tested home hair care there is. Our favorite, and go to product is Bumble and bumble.’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer. This primer defrizzes, detangles, protects from heat and UV, and conditions dry, coarse, or brittle hair.

Be Very Gentle With Wet Hair

Wet hair brings out frustration in the best of us. It tangles easily and can be tough to get a comb through. Many people will attack it with a large paddle brush, attempting to get the knots out in record speed. Don’t do this. Wet hair breaks more easily than dry hair, and requires you to be gentler — not harsher!

Use Toning Shampoos to Alter Your Hair Color, Rather Than Box Dye

If your next salon visit is still weeks away and you want a color refresh, it’s extremely tempting to pick up a box dye and go to town It’s a bad idea though. Box dyes contain extremely harsh chemicals that are famous for frazzling hair, and they can be difficult to color correct if they go wrong. Instead, opt for toning shampoos, such as a purple shampoo to restore an ashy blonde color.

One of the Classic Hair Care Tips: Do Not Overuse Heat

Excessive heat is bad for hair, but people often don’t realize just how much damage it can do. Not only does it make your hair dry, but it can also cause it to break off at the ends.

If you’re having stay-at-home days but still want to look good, throw your hair up in a loose messy bun or rock your natural waves. You can use heat on your hair, but try not to do it every day.

Take Care of Your Locks Between Salon Visits

Salon visits will do wonders for restoring the color of your hair and making it shine, but the job is made easier and so much more effective if you actively take care of your hair between visits.

Resist the temptation of the box dye, focus on your hair’s health, and it’ll show. For professional color services, a consultation, or other services, contact our salon!
